Hello everyone! I want to share a really simple and fun project that I saw on Pinterest. It’s one of those moments where you think, now why didn’t I think of that?! I have no idea why this intrigued me so much. I actually have a bit of experience with gardening and house plants, (my mother and mother-in-law are masters) so I’m not sure why the success of this project delighted me so much. Anyway, you know how when you buy green onions you usually only use the green part and throw away the white bulby part, right? Well, who knew that if you put that bulby part in water it will grow again-like immediately. As soon as I saw this I knew I had to start an experiment immediately. So I used my onions and stuck them in water afterwards. Here they are right after I cut them:
I just stuck them into a little glass jar I had and set them in a sunny place on my counter. By the next day they had already grown almost half an inch. Here they are after two days:
Kinda fun, right? I meant to take a picture every day, but I forgot. This picture is after about 5 days:
At this point I cut them and added them to dinner and decided to start again. I just rinsed the bulbs under water and added fresh water to the glass, and they are already really big again! They look super cute sitting on the counter too. I think this summer I’m gonna try to do this with chives too. You should give it a try! Thanks for coming by!
